Kudos to the British Airways Air Hostess
Recently, I was aboard a British Airways flight to Toronto, Canada. I was sitting near a mom who was traveling alone with two kids - a daughter who seemed to be about 2-3 years of age and a baby who was probably only a few months old. It was almost an 8-hour flight and not surprisingly, at one point during the flight, the daughter started crying and no matter, what her mom did, she never stopped crying. As the baby was also crying, the mom was also holding him in her hands and was having a hard time managing the situation.

The male BA attendants came and told the mom that she can't hold the baby in her hands and must place it back in the basinet - of course, the baby would start crying the moment the mom tried to put him (or her, not sure) in the basinet. There were about 3 male attendants standing right next to the mom. They tried hard to quieten the baby and the daughter. Just when nothing seemed to be working and the mom seemed to be at the end of her wits trying to manage the kids, out came a female attendant, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth seemed very patient and assuring. She worked with the mom and took hold of the baby, placed him in the basinet and started playing with him. The baby got distracted, and started smiling and playing with her. This gave his mom time to manage the daughter. She took her daughter to the back of the airplane, and when she came back after a few minutes, the daughter was all calm while the baby was still having good time with Elizabeth. What had been a terrible situation for over 15-20 minutes was brought back to normal, thanks to the graceful handling of the situation by Elizabeth. She definately went above and beyond her duties, and did a great job of handling the situation - my kudos to her!
