Weekend Quote - Obstacles
A river does not beat its head against obstacles. It always goes around - and it always gets to the sea.

Weekend Quote from a Book - Investments
You should never fall in love with your investments. If you do, you're in big trouble. Even if you think one of my buildings or resorts is absolutely the most spectacular in the world (and most of the time they are), I still know when it's smart for me to move on to something else or keep it within my portfolio. It all comes down to your guts and your brains.

Weekend Quote from a Book - Recipe for Wealth
Some people may look at the “bakeries” of wealth around them and wonder, “How did they bake those cakes? What recipe did they use? What ingredients?” and then try to figure it out on their own through trial and error. Following someone else’s recipe would be much faster and easier.

These amateur chefs try to re-create the recipes of the top wealth chefs but can’t seem to get their own cash cake to rise. We think it’s because they’ve been adding ingredients that spoil the recipe—such as a negative attitude or a poisonous relationship. Or they’ve been leaving out key ingredients—such as persistence or faith in a Higher Power.

Weekend Quote from a Book - News and Stock Market Performance
There is another dangerous bias involved in already knowing subsequent market performances and unconsciously using those performances as the basis for describing certain news events as good or bad. Every day's news is a mixture of good and bad. If the market rises, it will be attributed to a favorable item of news, with the next morning's market commentary often noting that traders "ignored" this or that unfavorable development.

The stock market is relatively efficient in responding rapidly to obviously significant news events and in adjusting prices to reflect updated knowledge.

Redeeming United Airlines frequent flier miles for merchandise or magazines
If you have United Airlines (UAL) frequent flyer miles that you need to redeem or if you just want to create an activity in your account to keep your miles active, one of the ways is to redeem the miles. Fortunately, apart from redeeming miles for airline tickets, United Airlines also gives you the options to redeem them for merchandise or magazines. I redeemed my miles for merchandise and for most part, was happy with it since the site provides lot of merchandise to choose from and shipping is included. On the downside, you may not also get $0.02 per mile value that many people say you should get for your miles.

For redeeming UAL miles for merchandise, see:

UALMileagePlus.com: Mileage Plus Merchandise Rewards

For redeeming UAL miles for magazines, see:

Weekend Quote from a Book - You're Fired!
Always pretend that you're working for yourself. You'll do a wonderful job in that case. It's simple, but it works. If you're finding that you don't love your job or that you're not doing a good job, demand a meeting with your boss immediately. If the situation doesn't improve, fire yourself (and your boss) and go do something else.
